While grocery shopping last night we ventured into the soup aisle. Boston stood up in the shopping cart child seat and wrapped his arms around my neck for a "hawg" (hug). And to my surprise, when I said that I loved him, he replied with a response I've never been able to get before. "I love you." It was garbled, and if I didn't listen closely I might have missed it. But for the first time he voluntarily told me he loved me.
My heart melted on the floor. I didn't go back for it.
I love your blog, Wendy! Such great posts and great insight into your life. You have a wonderful outlook on life that I've always admired. This post is so tender. Boston is a sweetheart. Let's just hope our loving kids don't turn into aloof teenagers too quickly, eh? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Corie! I hope that if our kids do turn into aloof teenagers that they keep on loving. :)
