the many faces of family

A few things to note. First, I am now 31 weeks pregnant and if my first pregnancy is any indication of things to come it's quite possible this child will also come at 38 weeks. That leaves us with (count it) as few as 7 weeks left to go...

This autumn has been very relaxed so far. Danny and I took a weekend trip to Park City to celebrate our anniversary while Boston stayed two nights at my parent's house. We lounged around, did a little swimming, watched a lot of movies, and took a beautiful drive through Deer Valley (our first time there!). If you like leaves in the fall, Park City is a gorgeous place to be.

It's also worth mentioning if I haven't already that lately Boston has made it his goal to be clean. He cleans up his toys, straightens the position of his draws in the closet, and throws everything small away--garbage or not. I picked up a new game at the store the other day called "Oodles", which is basically made up of cards with brainteaser questions to answer. Recently I walked into my room and found a few cards placed neatly in the garbage can beside my bed. That boy...

---Our Faces---

-- This is our sunny face --

The windows in my car are tinted but are never enough for a baby who wants to see everything. These glasses are from my dad's company party favors during the summer, and until now the kid refused to wear them. Well, timing is everything. I put them on his face as the sun was blinding him and voila! Instant cuteness on the road.

-- This is our canyon face --

Every year we go to the canyon with Danny's family to play games and eat pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and take pictures. That makes this our canyon "face" of family.

This post is in danger of getting long but I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from the event anyway.

-- This is our cuddling face --

These are three of my favorite pictures of Boston and Danny together so far (those ones in the canyon are a close second place). As you might already know, the World Series of Major League baseball is happening right now and Boston knows it by heart. "Baseball", he'll say whenever he sees or hears a crowd on TV. It's precious to see a child who won't sit still for Sesame Street cuddle with his daddy during a baseball game. I had to take a picture.

-- Our Halloween face --

Well, it's Boston's Halloween face. You won't see Danny's and mine until after we put on our costumes this weekend.

Check out this cute little number I scored for $4 at Deseret Industries. Boston is going to be Tigger for Halloween! Even cuter is the fact that, when encouraged, he will bounce up and down in his crib with a huge grin on his face. I figured since he dresses up as Spongebob in his pajamas at least twice a week we could give him a break and turn him into something else active--and bouncy too!

-- Our reading face --

This one came from today. I know it's hard to see him because he's wearing green and camouflage, but that's Boston with his groggy eyes showing me the baseball page in his dinosaur book. Why there's a dinosaur book with a reference to baseball I have no idea, but whenever we pull this book out that's the first page he flips to.

-- Our volcano face --

It's not really a face I guess, just an experimental solution to a volcanic problem: SMELL. This handy little bag of volcanic rock lives under Boston's crib. My mom brought us this gift and at first I wasn't sure how well it would work out. Supposedly these rocks can absorb odors within a 600-foot radius. Why not, I thought. So I hid them in Boston's room and while it doesn't cure the, um, problem, it certainly has helped.

And finally, what would our family do without a Spongebob face?

It's not an obsession I promise. It's just turned out to be one of Boston's favorite things. While Halloween costume shopping at DI (previously mentioned under our "Halloween face" section), we came across this little ball in the toy aisle. It's made of polyester and foam and cost $0.50. Could I turn it down? I submit that I could not. Boston talked about it all the way home. "Spun-bob", he would say as he squished it between his fingers. "Spun-bob, ha ha ha ha ha!"

I am never bored when around this kid.
