I've been doing little updates here and there but haven't done a full post for awhile. Here's one to catch up.
Ketchup - August 2011
In August, Boston turned 17 months old. That month was full of goodies for his development. One weekend we went to Carl's Jr. with a coupon we got in the mail. Danny and I were chatting as we ate our french fries, when suddenly we noticed movement around our ketchup. In amazement, we watched as Boston leaned forward in his high chair to reach for a french fry and carefully stretch it forward to dip it in ketchup (ding ding ding! went the french fry). The cuteness was overwhelming.
My 26th birthday was also in August, and since it fell on a Friday night, it turned into a birthday weekend! We even went to see Death Cab for Cutie on Monday night--so fun!
Car Seat Fun - August 2011
Most people don't know that the regulations for car seat travel recently changed. Until earlier this year, the regulations were that a child should be buckled in backwards until they were at least 12 months old and 20 pounds or more. The new recommended age for turning a car seat forward is now to wait until age 2. As you know, Boston is an only child. And a backwards-facing toddler gets pretty bored looking at his feet no matter how interesting his shoes may be. And so, in August, we decided to turn him facing forward.
That may have been the best day of his life so far. The only downside is that we can no longer hide if we're eating snacks in the car while he isn't. ;)
Stomp Stomp Stomp - September 2011
You know Boston is coming when you hear the bom-bom-bom-bom of his feet hitting the floor. Our toddler is a stomping dinosaur. We always know when he's coming--and we love it! Plus if he didn't make any noise when he moved from one place to another I might get worried and tie a bell around his neck to keep track of him. His exploration skills have increased a ton! He knows that the toilet paper roll can unroll. He knows that the toilet brush and plunger are kept next to the toilet within easy reach (he's known that one for awhile). He knows how to call my name ("Mommby!") and he clearly recognizes the Sesame Street character of Elmo ("Melmo!").
Danny turned 28 years old in September. While we didn't do anything totally extraordinary, the weekend turned out to be one of the better ones we've had in awhile.
You are now up to speed. - October 2011
You're probably wondering why the title of this post is "binky-whipped". I'll tell you. Boston loves to cuddle and snuggle. He's my faithful cuddle buddy, unless he doesn't feel like it. In which case he'll give me a quick "uh-uh" when I ask for a hug or kiss. Often while cuddling he will unpredictably turn his head. And what happens when he has a binky in his mouth? Binky-whipped! His binky smacks me in the face when he turns.
Of course it's not all about Boston (well...to me he kind of is). October is always a good month for us for many reasons. It's in the middle of autumn so the leaves start to turn, we get the delicious aroma of fresh apples when we walk out our door, Halloween comes at the end, AND it marks our anniversary!
On October 11th (this past Tuesday), Danny and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. We're planning to *really* celebrate this weekend in Park City. Boston is sleeping over at his grandparents' houses. And Boston loves his grandparents! He even knows their names. "MMpa" for Grandpa, "MMa" for Grandma.
And c-u-t-e for family. Family is the best.
