"Ramekins cost like a million dollars." -Danny
~Cooking~
It's not the dish that makes the chef, but the dishee! Er, the one using the dish. Danny is the cook at our house, and recently he decided to try something he's never made before: creme brulee from scratch. Yes, he has even ordered Vanilla Beans for this special attempt. If all turns out well there will be yumminess at our house. Tell your friends. :)
~Champion~
As I was sleeping this morning I heard all this commotion and stomping from the other room, when suddenly the bedroom door squeaked open and Danny flew into the bedroom to proudly announce that he had, in fact, passed the first part of the CPA exam with flying colors! Two down, two to go. The next one comes up in October. Also, he likes Wheaties. Which makes him our champion!
~Coarse~
Let's just say our patio is a little less cemented. We got a lawn! It's lush and green and (wait for it...) coarse! Boxster loves to roll around in it, Danny and I like to water and watch it grow, and all of us are looking for suggestions for how to cut it when it gets too long. The word "lawn" probably makes you imagine that we ripped out all the cement on our patio, but that's not really the case. I mean, if I barely find time to clean out a cupboard and under the bed, and if Danny is studying for the upcoming CPA exams, in what world would we possibly have time to replace all that surface area? Nay, we implemented a better solution by laying some leftover sod (given to us by a friend who was laying their own real lawn) in our wrap-around cement never-lets-anything-grow flowerbox into a practical landscape of Kentucky Blue grass. That's why I included a picture, of course!
~Cuddly~
I bet you were waiting for this word to come up. Since he was born, when have we ever written an article that didn't at least mention how cute Boston is? Not only is he the friendliest baby on the block (or so it seems when he flirts with the ladies in Relief Society at church), he is also a snappy dresser. His ever-transitioning wardrobe contains everything from a miniature suit to a sweater vest and jeans. Physically he may just be a little guy, but he's growing up more every day. He can almost sit up without any help, is a pro at holding his own bottle, and has an incredible reach. Yesterday I went to pull him out of his swing because he was fussy, but when I walked over there I discovered the reason he was fussing was not because he wanted out, but because the dangling fish on the mobile was barely out of his grasp. The sight of those wiggling fingers reaching desperately to touch the stuffed animal made me giggle. Bonus: he giggled with me! Someday he'll be the little boy that all the little girls have crushes on.

~Content~
Certainly not complacent, but "content". We don't live in a fancy house, or drive expensive cars, or even have a big backyard (see "Coarse"). But we have each other. We live in a safe neighborhood. Our cars get us where we need to go. And we even get to go to sushi every once in awhile (mmmmm...sushi). And while we still look forward to bigger and better things...they're still just things. We always have each other.
~Conclusion~
The end is just the beginning!
